Great Western Observer

At the 2002 regional conference (Space City Celebration 2002, Houston Texas), the 4 regions of SWAP, RMPA, PPA, and GPPA informally agreed to form a non-official, combined region called the Great Western Alliance.  This had been occurring for approximately 2 years prior to the conference as a means to combine conferences into a more effective venue with a greater attendance base.  As a result of this combination, the 4 regions decided to combine their newsletters into 1 single newsletter titled "The Great Western Observer".  The intent was for each region to reach more Planetaria than is in their regions.
